Lamb Finishing Workshop Series

Prime lamb and merino producers interested in getting the best from their lamb production are invited to attend a Lamb Finishing workshop series run by Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE (GOTAFE) and NSW Industry & Investment at Melbourne University Dookie Campus, Dookie.

The next workshop series:

  • Session 1 - Tuesday 14th June. 9 am sharp start
  • Session 2 - Friday July 1st
  • Session 3 - Tuesday 26th July
  • Session 4 - Early September

This workshop series will give Prime Lamb and Merino Producers the opportunity to challenge their thinking about their practices in finishing lambs.

The workshop series will include presentations from practical, experienced and respected lamb producers and researchers. The workshop series will include practices to produce healthy lambs that are bred and fed efficiently and prepared to market specification for the continuation of satisfied customers. Topics will include; establishing an environment to maximise best production, feed efficiency, managing risk, marketing options, working with an agent and processor specifications.

Workshop facilitators will include lamb producer and industry specialists, Dr Jason Trompf (JT Agri Source), Geoff Duddy (I & I NSW, Lamb Feedlot calculator), Nick Linden (DPI Victoria) and David Welsh (Landmark Agent, Benalla).

The course cost $500 (Concession $250) includes an informative manual, lunch and morning/ afternoon teas and two industry tours (to a feed lot and an abattoir).
